What a crazy couple of weeks! The insanity all began when I received a phone call from the city informing me that if we continued to do any more construction on the house that we would be fined the cost of the permit ($14000). When I asked why, they said that it was because there were not street signs in place and the fire hydrants had not passed the last inspection. In response, I asked if that was not their responsibility. ($#@$#@$#@$@#) Anyway, very long story short, I ended up making my own street signs for the entire 3rd phase of the subdivision and hounded the developer to get the fire hydrants turned on for the last inspection. We ended up only missing 2 days of construction and the permanent street signs were put in 3 days later. We couldn't just wait for the signs to be put in because it would put us a month out on getting the house closed in from the weather because of rescheduling with the sub-contractors.
Grantsville City has been absolutely ridiculous to work with as is our developer who is now 4 months late completing the subdivision.
Despite the chaos and stress, we have accomplished a lot on the house. We now have heating/air conditioning, a fireplace, windows and exterior doors and our bath tubs, electrical and roofing are almost complete. We are hoping that we will be able to have our 4 way inspection next week so that we can proceed with the insulation and sheetrock. Our brick is scheduled to start the day after Christmas :)!
A HUGE thanks goes out to Clayton (my brother)! He has been a huge asset. I call him on almost a daily basis with questions and favors galore. Here he is below teaching me how to stain our front door. He is also installing our doors and windows and he will be doing our finish work.
